Secondary LogMeIn Users

When creating secondary users, it is wise to have them create their own account first. This lets them add computers to their own account if they wish to. If they dont have their own account under that e-mail, and are then created as a secondary user, they will not be able to have their own account under that same e-mail. They will only be able to be secondary users on other accounts. If they have their own account first and then are created as a secondary user, they have the option later to add computers to their own account. Source

Unable to complete a connection using Firefox v3.x and LogMeIn Free v3.x

Issue

Mozilla Firefox v3.x has a problem with the v3.x (e.g. v3.0.606) LogMeIn (LMI) x86 client software.

Using Mozilla Firefox v3.x, you're able to connect to the LogMeIn client, but shortly after you enter the user name and password and click the Login button, you're sent back to the "My Computers" page with the following message displayed:

Connecting to the same LogMeIn client with Internet Explorer 7 works fine.

Solution

Manually upgrade the LogMeIn client

1. Connect to the target PC using IE and check the version of LogMeIn.  If it’s v3.x then you'll need to upgrade to v4.0.x or newer.
• Right click on the LogMeIn tray icon on the target PC and choose About...
• You can also tell which version of the LMI software is on the target PC by its dialog box. See table below.
2. On the LogMeIn client, download the latest LogMeIn Free client software
3. Run the downloaded LogMeIn.msi and select upgrade for the type of installation.
• If the LogMeIn installer prompts that LogMeIn is still running and needs to be closed, choose "Ignore" to proceed.
4. At some point during the upgrade, you'll be disconnected from the LogMeIn client and returned to your "My Computers" page.  Just wait for a few minutes for the target LogMeIn client to indicate that it’s online, you should then be able to use Mozilla Firefox to connect without a problem.

Network level authentication not supported on Windows XP SP3

Issue

You're unable to connect to Terminal Services on a Windows Server 2008 server that has "Network Level Authentication" enabled, using Remote Desktop Connection, on Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Diagnostic

Open Remote Desktop Connection and click on the icon in the title bar and select About.

If About says "Network Level Authentication not supported," then you'll need to turn on Credential Security Service Provider (CredSSP) in Windows XP SP3.

Resolution

How to turn on CredSSP

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then press ENTER.
2. In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa

3. In the details pane, right-click Security Packages, and then click Modify.
4. In the Value data box, type tspkg. Leave any data that is specific to other SSPs, and then click OK.
5. In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders

6. In the details pane, right-click SecurityProviders, and then click Modify.
7. In the Value data box, type credssp.dll. Leave any data that is specific to other SSPs, and then click OK.
8. Exit Registry Editor.
9. Restart the computer.
